Senior Physical Therapy

What to Expect During Treatment

When attending physical therapy after a joint replacement surgery, your first session will be an initial evaluation.

During this session, you will meet your physical therapist and discuss your condition. Your therapist should ask questions about your pain and how it behaves.

Your physical therapist will also ask about any previous treatments you have received and the effect those treatments have had. Then they will have you perform various tests and measures to get a sense of any impairments that may be contributing to your pain in order to complete your Plan of Care. Your doctor will be informed about your treatment every step of the way.

Common modalities used to recover from a Joint Replacement Include:

  • Exercise

  • Gait & Balance Training

  • Heat/Ice

  • Pain Neuroscience Education

We will call you within the next 24 hours to get some more information regarding your needs and set up your initial evaluation appointment. You will receive a reminder email or text a few days prior to your appointment with a link to begin your intake paperwork. This will help us spend more time on your treatment and less time filling out forms during your visit. Once your evaluation is completed and your treatment plan has been discussed with you, we will set up the required number of appointments needed to get you back in good health.
